Did the dealership give you a list of things they checked?
1 Tires, Front and rear
2 Wheel bearings, Front and rear
3 Steering head bearings
4 Motor Mounts
5 Stabilizer
6 Swing arm bushings

Maybe you and your boyfriend could jack it up enough to spin the front tire to make sure the tread has no bumps or bulges, watch for side wall movement. If the bead isn't completely seated it will act up. the dealer is supposed to do test rides so this does not happen.
