I put them on mine I think there worth the price of you ride in the dark. I bought mine from broadtracker. Easy to install nod I agree they should be standard equipment.

Same here.
I decided to get REAL FAMILIAR with their location after NEEDING to blast my horns, but instead I gave 'em the "Mean left blinker".
I find myself thumbing over my horn button often to be on the edge at all times. I bet a lot of distracted drivers on the phone have the other party ask them "Why is somebody blowing those loud *** horns at you?"

Just my opinion, but there's more important things to get real familiar with other than the stupid horn. getting your self hurt worrying about a horn that your Steel depending on the other person to wake up and do the right thing.

I don't think so, took mine off after almost hitting an elderly women.

Long story short is, if I had even enough time to touch the hone, and I did not. But if I had and she would have hesitated (she never knew I was there, to this day) I would have hit her. The horn is not for emergencies, it's to tell the texter the light is green...words of wisdom

You took your horn off because it slowed down your other reflexes, because you were distracted by covering your horn button? I must be misreading this?

I ride I-85 in the dark every morning and we all average about 80 -85 mph all the time. You'd better believe I've got that horn button covered when I'm running the left lane and approaching a short on ramp loaded with cars trying to merge. Covering my horn button doesn't dull my other instincts.

Words of wisdom? (Then again, if you'd known where your horn button was......)

You do what you want, if you believe the horn is your security then go for it. My first words was In my opinion, and told of my experience if you want to pick and chose what I sad and not really read it that's fine. But I'm not going to depend on the horn as a safety item.

It might be better to spend some time learn your control switches by feel, spending time looking down trying to find a switch is dangerous.

Not to pick, but having a hand gun where your Horn used to be isn't going to save you from anything in traffic either. Had a friend from work with the same mindset... put a gun on his ride to "protect himself from crazies" - same place as your's too. 3 months later he got killed by a Semi that pulled over on him on Remount road in North Charleston. You can look it up. True story.

A horn may or may not save you from traffic dangers but a hand gun certainly won't.

Oh I believe you, sense the horn was not there I wanted to put something diferant in its place. Iv only actually carried a gun in it a couple times (not real practical) it's mostly just for conversation and it don't look bad.

But what I was trying to get across is a horn is fine, there's places it could be useful. But my way of thinking is memorizing where it is for an unplanned and in an emergency is dangerous IMHO. Ok if your on the freeway and you expect to be tooting your little horn that maybe different.

But by the time the horn is blown and you are expecting a reaction from that danger but the danger is not reacting as you think it should that is time spent that you should have already been getting completely out of the way.

I mean ***** what are you going to do blow the horn and do the one finger wave, by that time I'm gone and they are hearing the sound of my rineharts.
