Put some new Kuryakyn Kinetic grips on my 2011 Road King (Throttle By Wire) and when I tighten up the master cylinder torx bolts even slightly the throttle sticks and won't all the way return to the idle position.
I have checked to make sure it's in the groove inside the switch housing and is perfectly. It will rotate fine with just the switch housing tightened but the second I start tightening the master cylinder housing it starts sticking. I put the stock grip on and it works just fine.
I think it might be catching inside the switch housing, but I am not sure.
Anybody ever experienced this and found a solution? I can't seem to find anything like this on the forums or anywhere.
Country slang....Slide eree thang to da rite just a **** hare.
Loosen the switch housing and brake lever and slide it all to the right about 1/16. Should free it up. If not move it a little more.
It could be the kury brand , not a fan of their stuff , many other choices out there that are precision built products . Just my experience .
That's just an opinion. In my experience they make some very good quality stuff, used a lot of it on previous bikes in the past and this is the first problem I have had from probably 25 products I have used from them over the years.
If the switch box is too far toward the center of the handle bars the grip will bind. If the switch box is in the right place the grip should slide lengthwise easily between 1/16 and 1/32 of an inch. If making the grip move in and out requires noticeable force that is your problem. Was the grip easy to slide on or did you have to push on it pretty hard? It should have gone on with no effort, just as the factory one slid off with no effort. (Once free of the switch box)
I put my HD grips on and this happened also, soon as the screws got snug, they bound up. Took it back apart and tried again, they worked correctly. No idea why and not my 1st time doing FBW grips.
