i ride year round here in texas, so i figured the lower fairings would be nice to have once the temps drop below 40. gonna experiment tomorrow with the elephant ears on the fairing, see what kind of changes that makes.
On my previous bike, 2010 FLHX, I went all the way with wind protection.
Adjustable deflectors (that mounts at the lower sides of the batwing)
Lowers (vented)
Lower tree deflector (it made quite a bit of difference in cutting the draft shooting up in front of the gas tank)
Fork mounted deflectors (I didn't dig the looks of them but it made the biggest improvement of all other items added to my bike, IMHO)
I had 7" LRS ultra and I added a vent off of a goldwing and it smoothed out the air flow when it was open slightly.
so i added some ebay lowers to my street glide last week, and after a few runs back and forth to dallas (avg speed 75mph) ive noticed that im getting a lot more head shaked WITH the lowers than i did without them. any ideas what to do to fix this? I've got a set of the batwing-extension wings im gonna put back on, see if they help, and after that, swap out my windshield for a different one. also going to play with the vents, wide open vs closed.
any other ideas why the lowers are giving me more head shake on the highway?
ive got the fork baffle up front, and a 9" LRS ultra shield
Put your left arm across your chest, like a salute, at speed. Now, follow the path of the wind back to it's source. Once you find where the wind is coming from you will have a much better idea what fix to pursue.
