Cobra makes a very good head pipe. They also come with the heat shields. Great warranty as well

All I will say about Rush is they did warranty my out of warranty black shields and black mufflers for cosmetic issues.(actually happened well within warranty) I then took the loss and sold them as new, not wanting to risk that again. The ceramic coated headers were fine.

I looked into de-catting my oem header. Decided on buying a Jackpot Header (Fuel Moto), as I wanted the bike to run as cool as possible.... The de-cat helped and so did the ceramic coating on the header. As for the tubes? I loved my Rush slant ups but could not get the baffles out. So called Rush and they fixed me up with new tubes. Am very happy. Good luck.

Here is what I've done. While these items are not the top of the line stuff they certainly are not low quality either. I believe these will give me what I'm looking for, a cooler more responsive better sounding motorcycle. Rush Eco 2:1:2 Head Pipe, Ness Big Sucker, Accel Stealth Super Tuner. All three of these items was purchased on Amazon, after the 10% cash back from my credit card the total for these three items is $494.95. Jones Full Boar Slash Down 2 Inch Baffle Mufflers purchased from Eastern Performance, after discount the cost for these was $180.45. The total for all four items is $676.40. Looking forward to getting these items installed. Thanks to all for your input, especially those who recommended Rush.

Default Header Choice

I went with the Rush with ceramic coating, fuel motto cross over and stout slip-ons. Sounds really mean, get a lot of complements.

I agree to an extent. A lot of other brands need a lot less done to them to bring out the designed in performance and handling. My Ducati for example needs nothing in the handling department with factory Ohlins front and rear. The performance is hard to argue with 160+ HP off the showroom floor. Sure a full exhaust (sans a titanium termi) is on par with an HD system cost wise the performance gains on the Ducati are just not there for the $$ spent were it is for the harley.

Point being a lot of people think that you need to dump quite a bit into an HD to get it where it should have been off the floor. I am one that thinks this way. A full stage one with tuner and addressing the suspesion front and rear is going to set you back between $1500-$2500.

I chose to rid the cat AND benefit from superior tuning of V/H Power Duals.
The Power Chamber has dyno proven advantages.
As part of my performance package, I have been well pleased.

I agree with you when you put it this way. I've been known to state Harley is a kit which needs finishing and improvements. It's a shame they have to be that way, but then people still buy them and open their checkbook for the modifications. My Hannigan triked Goldwing is twice the trike the 2010 Triglide I used to own was, no performance modifications needed on the wing.

Yup. My K1600 needed nothing but a few comfort mods (seat, windshield). That was it. I will say that the RGU is hands-down the best Harley I've ridden when it comes to stuff to "fix". I put a Madstad on it and rolled the bars forward. And I got a screaming deal on a pair of CVO mufflers and a headpipe, so I'll be doing them at some point.

As far as headpipes are concerned, I don't think you can go wrong with the Jackpot stuff. Jamie and his crew make a quality piece that I've used on two past bikes. I've heard very good things about the Fullsac DX, but I have no esxperience with them. I've ridden behind Chip's bike with the Rush headpipe, and it sounded really good.

I have the Full Sac head pipe on my FLHTK. Couldn't be happier with it and the power gains.
