Default Few questions

First off the wife wants new headpipe. Only looking for sound and less heat. Should I decat or buy her true duals? Alsi she wants black so if I decat can I powder coat heat shields? Last question is I have an outer primary gasket from 08 dyna. Can it be used on a 14 street glide? Thanks

RE: pipes - I know you said you want sound, but if you're riding two up, I wouldnt give up the low end grunt with true duals, I'd stick with a good 2-1-2.

RE: primary gaskets - not sure, but they are inexpensive, not worth the risk, just plunk down for a new one. Peace of mind.

I have new gasket. I'm not home to look at them. As for pipes we don't ride 2 up. She's got 14 street glide and I have a 15 street glide

if sound is your priority- go to a bike night and see what other bikes are running.

find out what meets her/your taste. ( some of the guys here are one their 3rd or 4th set of exhaust...spendy!)

if you ride together alot, some pipes project a tinny rattle straight out the back...no fun following that all day

I run power duals and cfrs. She is cheap and wants decat pipe. Wasn't sure what the disadvantages were. Running tuner and she's gonna change mufflers. She wants it all black so will powdercoat hold up

I run true duals, and mine are black, I ride 2 up, and haven't lost any "grunt".

A set of new exhaust gaskets is less than 10 bucks.

Your heat shields can be powder coated, but I never recommend decatting, personally.
Mine are Rush Racing true duals, came with the heat shields.

A decatted headpipe will work fine but it won't add any ponies.
It's still a cheap proven mod that will add a tiny bit of sound and reduce some ankle heat. Obviously aftermarket is better in just about every way with the exception of cost.

If you have the O-ring type derby cover gasket used with the Stock derby cover that came with the bike, it's $5.49.
If you have the flat paper looking derby cover gasket used with aftermarket or Harley accessory derby covers, it's usually around $8.99.

In either case those gaskets work from 99 to 2015 touring. And 2016 Softail/Dyna.

A straight up outer primary cover gasket is $35.99 and will work from 07 to 2016.

C'mon chaps, most of us know how to do this, it takes just a few seconds! Gasket primary cover for '08 Dyna is #60547-06, for '14 SG it's #34901-07.
