About 2 weeks ago, I saw a really trick set up. I-pod was mounted inside the dash below the ignition of an RK. Looked trick. Seems the guy took a piece of alum and cut out for the buttons/controls. Must have cut the lower dash to put it in there, and then topped it off with a full length of stickum plastic (to keep water out). The new piece looks factory after being polished out. Wish I would have taken a picture, but I'm planning on doing the same thing for my ****tail (yea, I realize I'm in the 'wrong section').
Took me a while to find it again, as I had lost all of my stuff saved on another computer. Here is the company I was talking about with the dash insert that allows for an ipod to be mounted under it. It is probably the same thing that 'powaypete' is talking about. An awesome setup, IMO. They do not make one for the rk custom, otherwise, I would already have it... http://www.lowlife-kustoms.com/products.htm
Thank-you, saved the website, the softail versionwill be avail this fall.

I have the 1gb shuffle. I took a one inch wide black strap sewed Velcro to it and sewed a extra piece for the ipod to clamp to. I strap it to the left side handle bar. I can reach it just fine. come on and off in a minute and looks nice.

I don't understand why anyone with an electraglide would spend a bunch of money to mount something as small as an ipod. I mount my Sansa Mp3 player with a strip of velcro on my fuel tanks dash console...I think you can just see it in my signature photo. This gives me easy access to the controls and I can even read the display. When I get off I peel up my Mp3 player and there is just a tiny strip of black on the dash; which looks fine with the black and silver scheme I have. I ran the cord for it out of the fairing, under the fuel tank, along the frame and it doubles back under the nose of the seat....all secured with zip ties.

For a weather cover, I cut the clear plastic tray that the unit came packaged in out and cut a small access hole for the headphone jack. It press fits snugly over the player and is flexible enough that I can still use all the buttons...just not the scroll wheel.

If anyone is interested, I can take a picture.
Well, I feel like an idiot!
I spent $17,000 onmy Ultra...added over $2000 in chrome accessories... have probably$500in tunes ona $250 iPod... and I could'veused ahunk of Velcro to mount the darn thing?
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid me.

Hey SeaHag... What made you go all out with using zip ties to secure the cord? Duct tape comes in black too you know!

Just busting your chops for busting ours.

I have a windshield bag and I put mine in there and drilled two small holes in each corner of the bag on the bottom and run wires down to my Rumble Road speakers mounted on the top of my engine guard. Great sound system for a Road King....I don't want the big system like they put on the Ultras.

I have my ipod 8gb nano (3 Gen) mounted to the switch housing on the right side. I just rode 500 miles with it and had ZERO problems. You can also mount them in the lower fairing and run a cable from the lowers to the AUX on the Audio System. I don't have any good pictures of the trike with its new chrome(I just trashed the clean trike on the 500 mile trip),but I attached one you might get an idea what it looks like. I got mine from Bobby, run a search for gilbos440rt or ipod mount.Hope this helps.

Unless i'm going to be out more than a day do I really need an MP3 player ? The 125 - 150 songs I can store on a CD as MP3 files and play over the HKStereo goes a long way for me and the sound quality seems better off the disk.

Besides that...I hate sticking extra stuff on my bike,no windshield bags, cup holders,iPods or anything like it.

If I'm going to be out longer than a day I can throw my iPod in to the storage compartment in my lowers. It'll run all day if it starts out fully charged.I kept stealth in mind and have an L shaped plug that stays plugged into the Harmon Kardon whether the iPods in use or not.(A straight plug sticks out to much and is begging to be hit accidently) from there I ran the wire mostly out of sight to the lowers storage compartment.

Works well for me on my Ultra. The more crap that's attached to your handlebars & fairing the more potential distractions keeping a motorcycle rider from focusing on the airhead distracted cell phone calling, text messaging, putting on their makeup painting their nails idiot drivers trying to kill ya.

I just bought the whole HD Ipod module, wiring, and saddlebag harness/ holder get up. I have not installed it yet but I hear only good things about it. There is one or two pieces still on back order from Zanotti's but I think it will do everything I want it to do. The handle bar controls will control the IPOD functions so you don't need to actually access the device itself.

I've always rode with an ipod (well, since they came out). Ram mount and aux cable since my first tourer (RG).

Decided to change the headunit on my SG, new headunit arrives tomorrow. Since I ONLY use the ipod, decided to try out the new Sony DSX series (went with DSX S200x).

Gonna install it with a Biketronics module to keep the handle bar controls.
