Can anyone tell me how well the air deflector works on the RK Custom ? Does it take the place of a proper wind shield. I love the look of the custom but don't want to be dissapointed when out on the highway .
As you've heard in the other posts, the deflector doesn't -- it's just for the look. I had a short HD detachable windscreen & the walrus tooth chrome lowers. The RK was very comfortable on long trips in that configuration. I even learned to like the look of the lowers. In the heat, I could get some air directed from below by putting my feet on the hiway pegs.
Speaking of that. The wind beats the crap out of me when I have me feet on the hihgway pegs. Not so bad otherwise. Anything I can do about this? (Besides not putting my feet on the highway pegs for all you jackasses waiting to jump on that one)

The walrus tooth lowers work magic. I had them on my 06 RK Custom and even learned to love the look! With the HD short detachable shield, it was very quiet as far as objectionable wind.
