Start/Stop Switch replacement

The Ultra has been giving me trouble lately when trying to start it. I have to play with the switch to get it to turn over. I picked up a replacement today at the local dealer for $60, I didn't want this to fail when I'm 100 miles away. I had taken the switch housing apart and read on the forums that the switch is spliced in. I was under the impression that the splice is done inside the housing. The new switch came with about 2' of wire which leads me to believe it's done farther down the harness. I didn't know if anyone has done the replacement and where they did the splice.

On my 07 RK I spliced the wires inside the headlight.

Sounds like you have enough to get to the plug under the fairing if you have stock bars. Buy terminals and crimp on and R&R old wires at the plug.

Once you get that new switch in, save yourself some aggravation in the future and shut the bike off with the key switch, except that rare occasion when you are stopping on a steep incline and leave the bike in gear to hold it.
