I'm 6'4" and had 16" Carlini's. They were the perfect size for me. I went +8" on all cables and brake lines and +12" on the electrical extensions. Cables were custom ordered from Magnum Shielding and electrical extensions were from Namz. You can do the work yourself, it's not that tough at all, just be sure to change your handlebar bushings to HD polyurethane bushings while you've got it apart. If you use your stock bushings, your bars WILL move. Ask me how I know!! LOL!!

I found out after a big bump with my 20' lmao. scared the crap out of me!
I installed WO 14" Apes on my sons 06 RK as well as my 08 RK. I used Magnum Shielding +8 clutch, brake and throttle control cables on his 06 and +8 clutch and brake cables on my 08. I used NAMZ handle bar wire extension kits on both. I ordered the longest wire kits I could so I had plenty of wire to stagger the solder connections inside the bars. It is only a few dollars more for the 15" kit vs their 4" kit.
With respect to height we are both 6'2" and these 14" Apes put our hands about level with our shoulders as you can see in the attached picture of my son. You will have to decide what is comfortable for you.
Thanks guy. Huge help!!
Another thing, I'm 6' 1" I'm looking at 12",14",and 16". I do longer rides, I know it's all personal preference but which would be more comfortable?
I'm 6'1 and have an '03 Road King with 12" Monkey Bars. I think the 12" is the perfect balance of comfort and looks imho. Hands aren't above my heart so they don't go to sleep, and it's still fairly easy to maneuver in parking lots etc.
Alrigh fellow bikers, I have a 2003 RK Classic. I want to put either 14" or 16" bars on, as cost effective as possible. I'm not sure where to start, length of cables. I want to do the work myself of course. I am knowledgable on how just not on getting what I need. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps. God bless and help support our troops.
I went with the kit offered from hill county customs. 16 inch bars and it came with all the cables and wire extensions in the right size that was needed. Good looking bars IMO.
Put some Amazon cheap levers on there , HD mirrors and Wilson tennis racket grip tape on the grips.
I stand about 5'9" and I went with 10 inch mini apes on a 2007 Road Glide. My only regret is that I should have gone with the 12 inch bars. I like my 10s, but I think it would be a little more comfortable at the 12s.
