Default Barnett clutch spring conversion

Hi all.
Anyone tried the barnett clutch spring conversion kit that changes the springs to the coil type ?
I had one many years ago on a nitrous suzuki that was great, but not sure how they are on a harley ( 2012 ultra).

Thanks all.

Hello old chap! I have a Barnett diaphragm spring in my bike, to provide greater spring pressure with a bigger than stock motor. What mischief are you up to that you are thinking of making such a change?!

Subscribed. I am interested in making this same upgrade to my Limited. I pull a trailer and was thinking of adding the Barnett extra plate clutch pack along with the coil spring conversion.

Unless you have an extreme amount of pwr/trq your trying to hookup there really no need to bother going to the barnett clutch conversion though its a good product & there is nothing wrong with it.

If your looking to do moderate perf upgrades just as long as the clutch plates & metal spacer plates currently in the motor are in good cond within hd's spec for thickness and or warpage with no glazing or blue look from overheating all you have to do is install HD's inexpensive hvy dty SE stock type diaphram clutch spring thats got considerably more clamping force then the stock diaphram clutch spring has and you should be good to go,no fuss no muss.

Only other things you would need to install a new hvy dty SE clutch spring (assuming current clutch & spacer plates are in good cond) is an outer prim case gasket and 1.5qts prim oil & thats it.

Might consider installing a new clutch release bearing while your at it too.

Hi all,
I know this sounds wired but there is no real reason i want to fit the barnett spring conversion ! - i like the idea, i have a window clutch cover to see it and money is not an issue. I just like playing around with bits on my harley 😃

I like the look of it, especially if you have the window, id go for it. ive thought of doing that clutch and spring converstion ,but put it on hold cause the HD one is tougher then a lot of people think(with the heavy se spring added). Just did the clutch inspection per the book and it was within specs and no war-page or discoloration @60k. now fully loaded up hill i sometimes imagine it slipping dont know. Maybe the energy one clutch and the barnette spring coil could work one day.For now I got an upgraded clutch hub from j&p for $200 cause i was missing a tooth and a half and there was scoreing...you might want to look at that hub at j&p its suppose to be better and it might look cooler thru the window(black anodized)

-also hub cam with an upgraded bearing installed

I have one on a 09 Trike and love it. This is the 3rd bike it's been in and every bike worked fine. The trike and an 08 Ultra with a hack when things really got hot or in crazy city traffic, the clutch got "soft" but wasn't slippage. The feel of the lever was mushy till it cooled down. The conversion cured the softness. Both motors were 103s with cams and tuners. Used ATF/primary oil in the clutch and things work great. Very nice unit.

I like these variable pressure ones as well, now i have started looking.
Not sure if these give any slip at low revs though ??

Thanks all - appreciate the feedback.

I would assume the Op wants "more grip' with a "lot less effort"? doesn't the SE spring add more finger dexterity? [human lever effort]

I did the SE clutch spring when I had the 120R installed in my 13 Street bob. No detectable difference in lever pull. However since I ride over 30K a year for many years my muscles have had constant exercise year round even if they are 75 years old.

The 120ST motor in the Freewheeler needed no change per HD as it is the hydraulic clutch.
