Everyone complains about the high prices of the motorcycles, the service, the parts, the merchandise. Stop buying and keep your paid for bike or stop complaining. I drive a 07 F150 Screw Lariat, I will eventually be replacing it with a new one or newer one. New Limiteds are close to $70,000 and used are in mid 30,000 - mid 40,000. I either accept it or don't. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy, it's all up to the individual. If I could afford a new SG, I would have one in the garage next to my paid for one.
That's their cost for the materials used. Really! With their mark up along with the shop time it'll come out to about $600 for both appointments.
I don't disagree on dealer cost but I think you missed the point. The street cost of this as a customer is much larger.
"Value" is not weighed on what it cost the dealer, but rather on what it cost YOU....
If it normally cost you 1200 bucks for a service and you get it for "free", it's worth 1200 dollars. Not 66 or 600.
If someone went to hand me 1200 bucks I wouldn't ask them what it cost them. I'd just take it.
The problem with this though is that the 1200 bucks... it really just came out of the wallet that HD just lifted right out of your pants pocket.
No I got the point of the OP's original post. The point I was trying to make however is that the MoCo or the Dealer is trying to make it look as though they are giving you a smoking hot deal on the first two service checks when in all actuality it costs them next to nothing to do it. Just another game of smoke and mirrors to get you into a new bike.
E-mail I got said it was a 5 year ESP maintenance warranty for $1.
I got the same from my dealer except that they told me that you had to be on a specific email list and at the time they could not tell me what triggered that email. Anyone else have any ideas on who got these email and why?

Probably because I haven't bought a new Harley in 11 years.
