So I got a new pup and she thinks it's fun to bark and bite my bike upon start up. It's cute but she's torn chunks out of the rubber insert and it looks like hell. I'd like to replace it with something chrome, but I'm not having much luck on ebay, Amazon, Drag Specialties, J&P, or eglidegoodies. Anyone have a suggestion other than to remove the bumper?
A few yrs back HD made a metal insert for your style bumper.I'm not sure if it had a light in it or not.You might find one at and indy shop that sells older bikes,or has a big stock of used parts.
Just remove the bumper, it cleans up the bike not having it on there. I removed both of mine.HD sells a bracket to replace the bumper that goes on the backside of the rear fender and bolts to the saddlebag and fender supports. It's comes chrome or black.
the chrome fender tip looks good, however if you remove the rubber bumper guard you need to put a brace in place of it. It is not just for looks, It also connects both of the saddlebag brackets to keep them from shaking to had and cracking. There are other options, but here is one that will be hidden and allow use of the fender tip while still tying everything together. http://www.ebay.com/itm/231791649751...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
if you want another one of the rubber insert units, I have one that is in great shape that I just took off of my 06 RK that you can have for the cost of shipping if you want it.
