Not really sure - maybe some type of speed sensor?

The slug allows the rotor to slightly move(semi floating) when the brakes are applied. It supposedly reduces the possibility of getting the symptoms of a warped rotor.

Speed sensor is in the transmission, abs sensors are in the wheel bearings. So I'm going with the semi floating theory that "dansflhti" mentioned. Thanks for the input guys.

Its harley lame *** attempt at a semi floating rotor. They dont work. My stock rotors are warped all to crap at 2 years old. Look at true floating rotors and calipers on any sportbike. Those are all the way around a real floating rotor. In 10 years of riding sportbikes i never had a warped rotor
