CVO's , don't they have premium Showa's fitted? If so , that is gonna be the best y'all gonna see on the back. No way is 1 person going to walk away from a CVO purchase due to rear shocks. Don't think the CEO doesn't know this.
We know that Showa make suspension for a wide range of bikes, across many brands and including race reps, but what H-D passes off as 'premium' hardly justifies that word - it's only relative to the shocking quality of stuff on the base models.
As for the CEO, we can all live in hope that one day he will see sense and make the CVO models truly premium - in all departments, suspension included! For some of us it makes no sense to spend a King's ransom on paint and then fit tin-pot suspension, 'premium' or otherwise.
Here's an example. Black&Decker was selling their Dustbusters. They would pay engineers to find parts that would fail within 80% of the two year warranty figuring the average person would only use them so many hours within the warranty period. They would test the parts and if they lasted too long they would find others that would fail within the proper timeframe. I knew a person who did the testing in Shelton, CT at the time.
How did I miss important information like that? What dustbuster does is surely connected to Harley! Guess the Dustbuster CEO talks with Harley's CEO. Darn!
I have ridden with guys that put 175,000 miles on there Harley before rebuilding anything. Again, Harley has shortfalls. The suspension is a big area for improvement, I upgraded my 14 Limited with Legend AXEO front end kit and Revo rear shocks. The results are amazing, shows how bad the stock suspension is. Does not mean they build the bikes to fail. That is simply paranoid.

yeah I know plenty about Showa, I guess my sarcasm level was set on low. And the premiums fitted now are light years ahead of the air shocks. Probably cost HD 50 per unit, don't look for any upgrades in this century, LOL
I have Howard's 2~2.5s, and I spent less than $900.00 on them, and I have to say that they are worth every penny over the stock air shocks.
I believe that this emulsified shock would be just fine for every rider out there that has not ridden on a better shock. The wife loves these shocks, and she has back problems.
Same here. I cannot believe the the quality of the ride compared to stock. It's like riding on a cloud. My wife and I like to tour and 4- 600 mi days over and over are common when we travel. My problem now is the front end now feels like junk.

Thanks, you're making me feel better about going with the 2.5's.
