Agree with the above about the BAL. Yes, it's expensive but IMO there's not a brighter light on the market plus you can choose one of several flash sequences. They are blindingly bright.
I am looking for a LED taillight form my 05 electra. I have looked at BAL but I am looking for something a little more pocket friendly. I already have plasma rods and now would like a brighter taillight. Are the cheaper ones worth buying?
I don't know how much the BAL's are going for these days. I have the Panacea system on my FL. In general, you get what you pay for. LED tail lights are one of the best investments you'll make.
I've got a BAL-3R on the way. After seeing it in person at a dealership, I don't think there is another tail light out there that offers the same level of customization as a BAL. They have 3 different running light brightnesses, 3 different brake light intensities, and 20+ flashing patterns when you hit the brakes. I've been rear ended as well, and $250 is a lot for a tail light, but with all the features, and the hope of it getting someones attention who isn't paying attention, it will be well worth it.
Not only is it a superb product made right here in the USA by A American company their customer service from what I understand is awesome as well IF you have a problem.
The BAL is the way to go.
I have mine set at max intensity, 3 blinks then steady on for brakes. I am surprised they don't "ZAP!" with each blink. Badazz.
try a sound-off signal ghost tail/brake light. Has a built in 5 pulse flasher, very bright. The higher you mount it ,the better. I have it on my airwing rack instead of theuselss HD light. Easyvto hookup and around $100.
The BAL is awesome and while you still have to be aware of who and what is behind - I have noticed that vehicles tend to stay a little further back in stop and go traffic. I have the BAL set to flash before going steady, and there are a lot of options. You set the flashes on mine using the included magnet, very easy process. The newer ambulances and emergency vehicles seem to use the flash before steady so there must be some science behind it. Highly recommend.
I bought the HD LED tail light, very happy with it, much brighter then stock, nice OEM quality and more reasonable then a lot of the aftermarket stuff.
