Going to have my lower legs and cowbells handlebars powder coated. is all powder coating the same or can there be a bad powder coating job. I got a few guys that are local that can do this but some of them are pretty cheap in price and I don't want to get something that doesn't last. give me your opinions on powdercoating.
Just like you can get a poor wet paint job, you can also get a poor powder coat job - ask to see some of his pieces that he is working on to check the quality of their work...

I powder coat my own stuff with great results, but there can be bad powder jobs. It's not as frequent as wet paint though.
What should I look out for on a bad powder coat job? I don't want it to start peeling on me.
Look at the uniformity of the finish, gloss, and any areas where the powder did not cover well. Look for roughness to the finish and specs of dust in it. Peeling is not typically a problem with powder provided they started with a bare metal. Look for runs also. Though not typical it is possible lay too much powder on and get runs or sags during the curing process.
Be sure to ask them if they remove the current finish down to bare metal. I heard from someone once that someone powder coated over the chrome finish.

The secret is in the prep work. Make sure the parts are completely clean and free of any oily/greasy residue. They need to blast the parts down to bare metal. After that it's a matter of how well they lay on the powder and then the right temperature/time combination.
