Default 14" Handlebars - Help Needed

I have searched and searched online and I find nothing but conflicting advice.
I am installing 14" Twin Peaks on my 2016 Street Glide.
I have been told that I don't need new hydraulic lines, they just need to be re-routed.
And I've been told I definately need new lines.
I've been told the wiring for the controls is long enough, and I've been told it's not.
And so on for the TBW.

I'm asking if anyone has put 14" bars on their SG what will I need?
Do you have part numbers or links?
Any firsthand knowledge will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

I placed 13" prime apes on my 2011 SG. They are very similar to the Twin Peaks. I wish I had part numbers for you, but I didn't save any of that stuff. I can definitely tell you that I suggest you buy the control wire and tbw extension kit. You can pull it to reach, but it will end up pulled extremely tight. You may risk the wires separating and possibly grounding out inside the bars. I believe the play on the bars (turning) is more comfortable with the longer lines, as opposed to rerouting the brake and clutch cables. I hope this helps.

As you are discovering, there are conflicting reports out there. I fell foul of one recently, when changing from 32T to 30T for the trans pulley. Unlike the many who said the stock belt would fit, I found it didn't! I had to buy a shorter belt.

If you want to do this job well and to be in control of your own destiny, then buy all the stuff you need and ignore those who say it can be done with less. Odds are that like me, you will be the one for whom the rumours don't work!

I installed Yaffe 12" Monkey bars on my 15' Street Glide, they are closer to 14" in actual height - I went with new longer hydraulic & Brake cables and a new TBW controller - the wires for the hand controls were long enough and didn't need extending ....

I've been thinking about the 12" bars myself. I agree with most that if you want the clutch cable and oil line to look good and natural on the bike, get longer ones. Same for the electrical on inside-wiring.

The originals might do, but turning lock-to-lock they will look like they are too short. I have the heritage-style bars now and got slightly longer lines.

You might want to place the stock lines in place on the 14"er and see how they look in full turns.

I installed 14" PYMB on my 2016 SGS last October. I bought the bars directly from Bagger Nation, ordered Namz extensions and Arlen Ness poly riser bushings. You will need to reroute the cables and it WILL work without even breaking the lines apart. You will NOT need to extend the FBW throttle.

Last month I installed another set of 14" PYMB on a 2016 Limited CVO, same thing as above. I did not break the hydraulic lines and just rerouted them. Only difference was the bike had heated grips so I had to extend those wires but was not any issue, I used the original wiring from the switch packs that was replaced with the longer Namz.

If you want it to look professional and perform without worries of tearing up wires or rubbing something through, put on the proper hoses and wire extensions. Its simple as that.

I did 12 1/2" WO577 on my SGS ............... wire extensions highly recommended, mainly for the clutch side wires. I am at the end of my comfort level with the stock hydraulic lines for the clutch and brakes. If they would have been 13" I'd buy lines and may still. Only have about 100 miles on the bars, nothing bad yet.

I to have been looking at changing my bars and while a friend and I were at a local dealership that was closing a couple weeks ago he grabbed a shop book for bars. I have been pondering through the pages for my Ultra so have it right here .

Provided it doesn't have the same bars you have, the closest ones are the Batwing Chizeled (55800298). On every set of bars listed for your bike it calls to use the 10" wire extension and says you can reuse the stock TGS.

According to the book for these bars the part numbers and measurements are as follows:
Hydraulic Clutch Line: 37200039a chrome...37200045 black (74.5")
Twist Grip Sensor: Use Stock (no need to replace)
Switch Wire Extensions, 10": 69200034

Brake Lines, Non ABS- Upper:
41800244 chrome...41800258 black (24.5")
Brake Lines, Non ABS- Lower:
41800336 chrome...41800338 black (22.3")
OR
Brake Lines, W/ABS- Upper:
41800321 (64") & 41800246 chrome (26.5")...41800321 & 41800260 black
Brake Lines, W/ABS- Lower:
41800323 (68.5") & 41800332 (14.9") chrome...41800323 & 41800333 black

Hope this helps!

I put 14" Mayhem Bagger Bars on my 14 limited and didn't have to even break the brake and clutch lines loose just rerouted and I made my own extensions for the wires. year and a half later still working fine.
