Has anyone had a pinging problem on a 96 to 103. I've got a 2007 SG with a 103 stage II, PCIII, Rinehart 2-1, AC Kit. I've have a pinging problem that gets worse as the bike gets hot. Differnet gases have been used always 93 octane. It has been dyno tuned and made 95 hp and 107 Tq.The timing has been adjusted and it still pings. My dealer told me they are having issues with the 103 and 110 kits. same problem as mine. If anyone has any information it would sure help in the trouble shooting process.

Would love to see the print out sheat on that dyno tune please 96 and 103 is good. Also would love to know the cam and exactly what they did. There having no problems with the kits. Its the yahoo with your maping. Get a good dyno tuner and that problem will go away.
I have the exact same set up and have no pinging at all. The guy who did your dyno tune is worth a dang. Not sure where you are from but find out who in your area is a GOOD tuner and bring it to them.

I have the 110 kit in my bike. Absolutely no pinging. A little popping on decel, so still slightly lean, but I am using canned maps. I will have dyno tuned soon. I am using the SERT with Rinehart TD pipes.
Ihave done a pretty radical upgrade to 103" and no pinging. If it was the HD package Stage II, should not be a problem to tune out the pinging, and shouldn't have to retard the timing, might be a lean condition in a certain rpm range. Does it ping all the time, on certain rpms, at partial or full throttle? A good person doing the tuning should be able to get it right. If you went outside the stage II with say different cams, then the tuning becomes more difficult, but unless you went way over the top on compression, or went with cams that require more compression, tuning is the key.
I live in Austin Texas so it does get hot here. The ping only happens at low RPM's. The hotter it gets the louder the ping. The bike has been in the shop for 4 days and they still can't figure it out. They think I need to change from a PCIII to a race tuner. Problem is is that I would have to fork over more money, and from what I understand once you put on a race tunner it is part of the bike for good. I've owned all types of bikes, and never had problems with the ASIAN ones. I go and spend over 20K and the problems have been around since day one.
before you spend the money on a RaceTuner (which you shouldn't have too) I would call Gruene HD in New Bruansfels. They have done several 103 kits and Mitch knows his stuff. They do have the National Champ in Destroyer Class and the 124 S&S Class (Michael Ray) who also holds the fastest record in the 1/4 on a Destroyer. For a Dealership, that is the one I would go to for performance.
