Default Ride-In Service?

Are all dealers like this? Two of my local ones want me to drop off my bike at 6am and they'll get it back to me by the end of the day. Otherwise they're booked out 2 weeks for appointments. My 1000 mile service can't wait 2 weeks, and it's super inconvenient for me to be anywhere at 6am!

Is this normal? Why can't I just drop by bike off today and pick it up tomorrow like the tens of thousands of car service departments do it, and every other motorcycle brand dealer, jet ski dealer, atv dealer, etc does it? Is this a Harley thing or just a crazy policy of my local dealers?

Anyone know of a good independent shop in Milwaukee?

Hey Grinner... guess it is called storage space. You can leave a car in a fenced in parking lot overnight, but a great bike is a different story.... The appointment and the early morning thing is to be sure they have room at night IMO...

You know I can see where a dealership wouldn't do it on a regular basis. But we are talking about a 1K service. I'm guessing you bought the bike from one of them. They could show their appreciation by letting you bring the bike in one day and pick it up the next. How much space does 1 bike take? This is what separates the good from the bad.

My dealership has a first come, first served policy on Saturday. Get there early and get things taken care of. Other than that it's that time of year where the work is backed up a bit. I'm sure in November you can walk right in and the mechanic is waiting for you to hand him the keys.

I stopped by my dealer at the 500 mile point knowing pretty much when I was going to hit 1000. I made an appointment about 10days out and actually dropped it off at 8 days. They had it done the next day.

Same here in So Calif... All the dealers around here work on a first come - first service (for basic services only) on Saturday & folks start lining up @ 6am for a 8am open...

I use Bikers Bay here in Arizona. No appointment necessary. You can sit there, drink a cup of coffee and actually watch them working on you bike. They have done both my 5,000 and 10,000 mile service. Quick in and out!
