Hey all, I took my badwing apart because I wanted to get the inside of it painted. It's all sun faded and looks crappy. After getting it apart I figured maybe I'd get some new gauges. Question is, do I get them from the HD Shop or is there a better source? Also, If I put a new speedo gauge in there, is there a way to put the existing miles programmed into it? Now that I have it off, I'm tossed at getting it color matched (Vivid Black) or just getting it painted close to what it is now...
A friend put knew faces and lights on his stock gauges for $ 30. They look pretty good unless you look real close. Dakota digital makes a set that will blow your mind and pocket book.
Change the faces hey? I didn't realize you could even do that. I have the chrome dash rings on them right now, but that might be an option. Where did he get the new face plates from. I'll check out Dakota Digital. I know new HD ones are like a grand for the set.
hmmm, I like the spun aluminum face gauges on the HD site, but they don't seem to have them all anymore. They only have a couple of them on the site. I can call the shop tomorrow. Anyone know where else to check?
If you buy new gauges from HD the dealer will set whatever mileage you like. Aftermarket like Medallion and Dakota Digital allow the miles to be set within the first 100 miles of use.
I know if you get a used set of Dakota Digital they will set it for you. Cost is somewhere around $25 plus shipping.

Ahhh. awesome good to know. I think I'm going to see if I can get me a set of the spun aluminium ones. Saw some pics and they really look nice with the vivid black painted inner fairing. I also have to find the switches for the aux, spot, cruise, etc. they are also sun faded and can't read them anymore, so while I got it apart, I'll get some new ones. Looks like the HD shop is going to get a few bucks from me again.. :-) Anyone know an HD shop that will give any discount ordering online... I used to have a couple...
I had titanium faced prior to switching to the DD. At the time I got them from Lake Shore which I believe is Boardtracker now.
Awesome, just looked on their site, Just down the road from me here in WI. Well about 2 hour drive. But they have all of them on their site, so I'll be giving them a call tomorrow. Thanks..!!
