My wife bought me the HD Garmin GPS last December for my birthday. Went for a ride last Wednesday and today. Both days the GPS picked up satellites before leaving the driveway. Both days the GPS unit lost satellites within the first ten miles traveled and never would pick up my position again each day. Stopped at a friends house today, parked my bike next to his. His TomTom GPS picked up seven satellites, mine picked up none. Anyone else having a problem with HD GPS?
Id bring it back and let hd fix it. Curious about how it tells you how many satalites are signalling. mine (zumo) just says aquiring satalite when turned on.
I haven't bougt a new GPS in a while, but back in the old days, you had to turn them on somewhere that it would have a clear view of the sky. On your desk or in the garage does not count. When you first turn it on it still thinks it's at the factory and can take up to 15 minutes before it finally figures out where it is. After that if you turn it on within a hundred miles of home it will zoom in on the satilites in a minute.
Was the location blinking or was it on steady? If it was blinking it was just guessing. It hadn't really captured the satilites.
Other than that you may have to RTFM
My Quest 2 was doing the same thing. Emailed Garmin and they had me do a couple of things that improved itbut not fix it completely. They had me send it in and the turn around was less than 10 days.Doesn't losethe satellites anymore.
Don't know if you have to go through Harley or Garmin for your warranty repairs.
No I'm Not having a problem as I don't own one.
How ever I may be able to solve your issue with some backward engineering.
No power supply needed and unless there is a MAJOR tecttonic plate upheaval
or shifting, guaranteed accurate.
My Garmin 2610 was messed up awhile back. called Garmin explained and they said sent it back. They sent me a new/different one back very quickly. The only problem with them is it takes FOREVER to talk to a human when you call. So be patient
No problems with mine whatsoever. Had it for well over a year, and use it alot. Only complaint is the mounting system. Garmin has replaced the hot shoe twice, cause the locking lever broke. Not alot holding the thing on...
