2007 Street Glide....Ijust started hearing a rattle in my fairing yesterday. I believe it is up around my right side mirror. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with this. I am fixing to take it in for the 5,000 mile service and let them fix it then. I considered tackling it myself and putting in some Hog Tunes while I am in there but decided to let them look at it since I need the servic anyway. Any rattled fairings from any other riders?
I've had a small rattle in mine that only occurs when I'm moving and the suspension is active, i.e. when hitting imperfections in the road. It's suspension related and won't rattle when idling, so it's been impossible to locate. I've had the outer fairing off and can't find anything loose, and the brackets are solid. I've touched everything within reach while moving to isolate it, but still no luck. Next idea will be to jack it up, then hit the front tire with a rubber hammer, hopefully to generate the noise. It isn't loud, but is there and shouldn't be.
I have the same issue. Do you have the three bag windshield kit? I think my rattle is happening been the bags come into contact w/ the windshield.
I have the single bag kit and that was my first suspect, but when I hold it in place the rattle is still there. I also checked the stuff inside the bag.

I do not have the bag kit yet. i did take it over to a friends home tonight and he feels it is the bracket. you can rev it a bit in neutral and on the decline the rattle kicks in. Holding the fairing aroun the mirror helps a bit but you cant squeeze it enough to take it all out. I think I will take it to the dealer since it would be warrenty.
As for my service..... you guys have just about convinced me to go buy the stuff I need and start doing my own. Hey..... a good excuse to buy more toys. Tool box, new tools. a lift......
Thanks for the input, I will let you know what I find.

I wish mine would sound off by reving in neutral, but it is silent unless there is some suspension action. That makes it very difficult to isolate. It's definitely not the fairing brackets, though, as I've already checked them and they are solid. In fact, I can't find anything loose or suspect inside the fairing.

Lot's of pros and few cons to doing that. You'll learn about your bike and save money at the same time. If you break down on the road you may be able to fix whatever ails the bike with the knowledge you gained working on it previously. You can buy the fundamental tools at Harbor Freight tools at low prices with a lifetime warranty.
I had a rattle in my right side of my 06 Ultra, and it was the tweeter in the speaker.
Hog Tunes fixed that problem.
Hmm, never suspected that. Did you have to remove the speaker to verify that it was rattling? What's odd with mine is that it won't do it unless there is some suspension action, which would lead me to believe it isn't the speaker, as when idling it does quite a bit of shaking.
I had the same problem on my '06 EG and was told by others here of the brackt problem. Turns out the screws in the lower left side of the fairng would work loose. I put a little loc-tite on and have not had a problem since.

Sounds like a broken fairing bracket...........very common problem.
I'm going to replace mine with some homemade heavy duty replacements made out of steel angle-iron.
I recently noticed a rattle that I thought was coming from the right side of my Road Glide's fairing. Damn near drove me nuts trying to isolate it - it only was really noticeable when I had the faceshield down on my fullface helmet. Go figure. Anyway, it turns out that that stock air cleaner cover had vibrated itself loose - just enough so that it would rattle. I tightened it down and that appears to have "fixed" the rattle. Now I'm just wondering if I should use blue Locktite on it - or just be sure and keep it hand tightened. (I'm open to any suggestions.)
