Default Quadzilla Fairing

I have done the search and read about the different fairings and now I have some questions about the Quadizlla fairing ONLY! I called Hoppe and the lady was not helpful.

If I do the radio upgrade will this eliminate or mitigate the CD skipping?
(The lady swore the Eclipse radio didn’t skip, but I believe the forum)

Is the radio upgrade necessary? The lady said it was for people who wanted to install pods. What is a pod?

If I buy the fairing off E-bay. Can I buy the chrome speaker cover and radio bezel separately and put it on? Or is this something I need to have selected when I buy the fairing?

How hard is it to take the speakers and radio out to paint the inner fairing?

Is painting the inner fairing worth it?

Ok This question was answered. I can get the cover from them but if you order it chrome from them, the speakers are silver, which gives the speakers a chrome look.

Pod probably meant Ipod..the upgrades are for Ipod and sattelite radio addons I believe. I don't have one but I wass doing research too. The cheaper ones on Ebay don't have the upgraded radios I believe and I would sure want XM or Sirius if I had a radio on my bike.

I have a Hoppe and can answer some of your questions. I also have found the lady who answers the phone there not very helpful and the techs only marginally better if you can get one on the phone. Their customer service is definitely one of their weak points and pretty poor in my experience.

Your questions:

1. I placed a post that the Eclipse CD player skipped. The CD I was using was a five year old home "burnt" (made) CD. After the post I played regular commercial CD's and it doesn't skip. I now just play MP3's made from my computer and have never had it skip yet. I have the lower cost Eclipse 2000. I presume the higher pricedEclipse 3000would be just as good.

2. The radio upgrade is only necessary if you want to control the ipod through the radio controls and see the ipod information on the radio display and also charge the ipod with the extra cost ipod adaptor. The standard (lower priced) Eclipse 2000 will play an ipod through the stereo controls and charge it but not show the ipod information on the screen with the extra cost ipod adaptor.Otherwise you can just plugthe ipodinto the aux port and control it through the ipod and not charge it. Both radios are Sirius compatible.

3. You can buy the chrome radio bezel separately. I am not sure about the chrome speaker grilles. They appear to be part of the speaker and you may have to buy the individual speakers to get the chrome grilles. You can contact Rick at Softbrake (www.softbrake.com) and he can answer that. He stocks both the chrome radio bezels and the chrome speakers/grilles.

4. It is not hard to take the radio and speakers out to paint the inner fairing.

5. It doesn't look good with the inner fairing not painted, in my opinion.

I thought long and hard about the fairing; right know I do not want to dump 2K into a fairing. So I opted for speakers/XM-radio ($350.00), works really nice and no skipping. With after market fairing, I could not find an appropraite fairing that I could attach a windshield bag to for myEZ pass, garage remote, & cell phone.

If you choose to go that route, you definatley want to get the inner/outer painted. I received quote for about $800.00 to paint.

Oh by the way, I made to Yankees Tavern. It located between College Station & Huntsville (in the middle of no where). It is Biker Bar with great hamburgers.....then we rode through Nation Forest.

Good Luck

I have one and love it. I have not experienced CD skipping but I mostly listen to the Sirius radio. Nothing like a cross country trip with satellite radio. Definitely paint the inner fairing, it's not difficult, just tedious. I covered mine in carbon fiber. It's great to be able to take the fairing off in about 4 minutes to go blasting around town.
Look at my profile if you want to see it.

Guys ,,, and Gals ,,,,,

hate to toot my own horn again ,,,,, but that is my job ,,,,,,

take a look at the speakers below from the handlebar speaker page at www.jmcorp.com ,,,,,, I think for that bike this is the best way to go ,,,,,, looks, performance etc ,,,,,

Self-amplified Chrome Handlebar Mounted Speaker Kit

MHAS-2005
$599.99

Back To Amplified Handlebar Speakers

These self amplified powerhouses are virtually hand built in our factory in Tucson.

The amplifier circuits that are installed into the base of the speaker housings put out well in excess of 25 watts each and are sealed in epoxy to provide complete weather proofing.

Not only powerful, the amplifier circuits have been specially tuned for the high gain levels necessary to amplify even the smallest of Walkman/MP3-type or portable satellite radio music devices.

Left speaker side mounted volume up/down control switches provide for ease of use and convenience while riding.

The speaker cones are also waterproof and will provide many years of service without damage from the weather.

A top quality chrome finish is applied to the speaker housings as well as the mounting brackets for beauty and durability.

The speakers connect directly to your bike's 12V electrical system (no batteries are needed except for your personal music device) and all necessary wiring, mounting hardware and installation instructions are included.

The MHAS-2005 speakers are the best performing handlebar mounted speakers you can buy anywhere, at any price. You won't be disappointed!

JMJ, I don't think that will look right on my Apes, but the price is right.

BluKing06,
Next time yall go to Yankee Tavern let me know. I ran into a Street Glide this weekend, same color as yours and same rims. I thought it was you for a second. I like the clean look of the fairing. I thought GMoney said he paid $150 for his paint. I will have to go to my old stomping grounds (Acres Homes) Their prices should be more reasonable.

Manish, all bs aside, the eclispe radio is garbage!!!!!Try adjusting the volume or skipping to next song on cd @ 80 mph!!With gloves on!!!![:'(]There both adjusted by turning a **** instead of push buttons.Which gives the stereo abull chit rateing of 10!!!!
I plan on adding a flip out head unit with touch screen and navigation to replace the unit.

Also you might want to get the wife an ipod or some other mp3 thing-a-majing-y,because when its nice out,you dont want to cover up those bad azz apes!!!My wife already knows the deal.Summer, fairing is off,esp for barhopping. It's on for long rides 4 plus hours and winter ops only!!!!

Shop around for best paint prices bro, just seems like painting bikes is an exspensive fad now!!!Some one quoted me fora basic candy paint job no graphics,$3200.00.I said does that include my H2 as well?He laughed and looked at me like i was crazy!!!I dont get it.
