I'm 6' tall and ride a electra glide...with a 4" deflector im fine at speeds under 55 ...but higher than that it hits me squarely in the face..I will have to hold my riding glasses to be able to see it blows them so much...with the stock windshield i dont even need glasses at any speed....no wind...no buffering....only problem is my goatee blowing straight up covering my eyes.
I'm 6'3, 37 y/o, and I have an EG STD with the 6 1/2 windshield.
I really like, it, and I'm with Bill, I won't own another ride without my comfort items. I don't get much buffeting (none really) at 80, and I don't know that the stock shield is better in the rain, as I doubt you'd be able to see through it. Rain sucks no matter what if you're doing anything faster than sitting in the restaurant waiting it out. UNLESS, you have the raingear and full face...which I don't.
FYI - I'm 6' and when I had the "standard" RK windshield.....the top of it was right in my line of sight.....thats what got me started with all this mess. Like I said, I plan on taking my time with this decision.....lots of other priority items to buy before I drop nearly $1k on a new fairing. When the weather is right and I'm just cruising around town.....I actually prefer nothing at all.....just looks too cool.
I have had my FLHTCI now for almost two years... being 5'6" - the stock wind shield was just too tall - I was not sure what I wanted and the prices I was finding were not cheap - I do not mind spending $$$ it the product works... You know the $$ we waste at times trying to find something.. Anyway, I found this guy in Reno - his shields are very resonable and they are Strong and his customer service is also 110% - anyway, give him a call, he will work with you and at his prices, I have several sizes...
I am not connected to this guy except that I am a happy customer....
