I haven't decided if I am going to stay with redline or not. I had them put redline in cause it was recommended but a old friend of mine. The only reason I was thinking of changing get to something else is cause of the cost. Like I said not committed to changing from redline, it was just a thought.

If you're committed to using a synthetic oil (good idea IMHO), be careful about switching because of price. Group V (Red Line) and Group IV (All other synthetically created oils) tend to be expensive. Less expensive "Synthetics" may be Group III which are a somewhat contentious contender for the title "synthetic". These were not "created" as Group IV and V oils were. They started out in the ground just like Group II Dino oils. Just so you know.
If an brand is based on "PAO" or "Esters", they'll tell you. These are the synthetic bases that account for (justify) the high price. If a lesser priced "synthetic" contains a proprietary blend so effing special that it must be kept secret for the good of all mankind,,, that would be a group III, in all probability. Syn-3 and Castrol come to mind. Its not that these aren't good oils but, if you're committed to "synthetics" this is something you should know.
lots of good oils out there.if your being cheep, for syn 15-50 mobile 1 gallon bottles if you change it often any name brand 20 50 motor oil. anything that says v twin will work in the primary. any name brand gear lube in the gearbox.
I have tried them all and Redline products seem to be the best out there. The engine oil is a true synthetic. In the hottest summer months I use the 20-60 Redline synthetic with great results! The shockproof trans lube has to be the best by far. I do use Shell Rotella T diesel oil 10-40 in the primary as it is JASO rated for wet clutches. I buy it online from Amazon and with free shipping it is reasonably priced.
I use the same 20/60 also. been running it year round for the past couple of years.
I also use the rotella t in the primary. but I get it at advance auto or Walmart in a 4 qt jug for around $13. esp. when it's on sale.
I had the 1000 mile service included free with my bike purchase, so i'm still running the same tranny oil as was switched to at the 1k service, getting ready to do the 20k in a couple weeks. haven't yet decided which tranny oil to use, whether it be shockproof, or any other gear oil. guess it depends on whats available.....
I've been using Redline in my engine & trans since my 5K service. I tried there primary lube but my clutch started to slip. I changed it to HD Formula+ & never had that problem again. Kevin, why change to another brand?
