In the Oil forum I was looking at the fluid polls for oil, primary, and tranny. Oil and Primary show Mobile 1 and Amsoil being the top doggs. I am guessing there are different "models" of Mobile 1 and Amsoil....Is there something I am missing?

Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 is approved for all three holes, however some use a less costly version of Mobil 1 for the engine only, that would not be suitable in the primary or trans due to friction modifiers, and other issues. Clutches need special treatment, you know...
I'm one of the ones that has been using the less costly version. Mobil 1 15-50 at Walmart in the 5 qt jug. It's around $25 a jug. As said, engine only. I just had the engine rebuilt after 112,000 miles in my Road King. It was still running fine but the lifters were getting noisy on start up when it sat over the weekend. It's my commuter bike. My Indy was surprised at the condition of the engine. He prefers dino oil over syn. He told me it was one of the few times he reused a cam plate. He did all the measurements on it and it was still well within spec. He said the worst wear he found was the valve seats and the lifters.
He's trying his best to talk me into adding a quart of RevTech oil to the Mobil 1 to prevent skating. I'm still on the fence. I like the fact that he's old school so I might do it out of respect. He built a great engine.
If you got 100k+ using the Mobil1 with no issues I don't think I would change anything just to make someone else feel good about it.
