Bluetooth Headsets on your Harley
I am using the HD helmet headset (Actually J&M) for bluetooth calls. I plug the into tank dash console where the Harley headset plugs in. There is a special (low cost) interface that allows you to plug into the mike in 2.5mm jack on the Zumo bike mount located above the Zumo audio out 3.5mm jack and allows you to use your helmet headset for both CB and bluetooth.
MP3, GPS directions, bluetooth and CB all work with the HD console headset or bikes speakers. (I personally have not tried it with intercom...I don't have a passenger)
The interface is made by an independent outside source. I have no affiliation. The person that created this interface is a rider. He has made quite a few of these for his fellow riders. I approached him to make one for a Harley. He did. It is pretty small, easy to install and it works!
Simple, clean, inexpensive and crystal clear calls at 70mph!
Requirements:
ZUMO 550 and CB center console w/headset.
Here is the info on the person that makes the interface.
Email him directly for information on the headset cable.

This is suppose to be available late September early October 2008. I have an order pending and will review it after I obtain one and have a chance to use it.
Thanks for all the request and I am working on this as fast as I can.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
How hard would it be to design a unit that plugs into the rear of the Stock Radio and allow the rider and passenger to hear the stereo though wireless headsets?
The biggest reason I don't use the existing Harley set up it that it requires me to be tethered to the bike by a big telephone cord. Could even be considered a safety issue.
I can understand why Harley would not want this, because if it worked then any bike with the HArley radio could have intercom, wireless head set, CB, and cell phone connection. And if that were true they may not buy that Ultra.
The market for this would be huge. Imagine all Road Glides, Street Glides, Ultras, and even upgraded classics havin this as a plug in option.
How many of you guys would shell of $500 so that you could be wireless and have all these capabilities? I know I would....
Now I just received my new Garmin Zumo 550 and asked cyclegadgets if they have a solution for it as well. I want to retire my Delphi unit and have the GPS/MP3/Phone capability of one unit. Actually they have two solutions.
1. Wiring the 550 with prefabricated plug and play ends which draw power from the back of the cigarette lighter and send output to the AUX outlet. Will make the GPS XM radio and turning voice instructions work through my Ultra's speakers or head phone. The bluetooth cell phone would not work in the GPS. (cost is $177)
2. A much more complicated wiring package with very good instructions for actually replacing some of the individual wires in the HD harnesses with a special electronic module. The module has output wires that bottom line route everything through the HD master system. Then you can listen to the Bluetooth phone via your HD headset as the Bluetooth connects to your phone via the Garmin. (Cost is over $320)
I purchased the more simple option 1 and hope to hook it up Christmas weekend, if I can get up the nerve to remove the upper fairing.
I then will listen to the music etc through my speakers and if I need it, add the bluetooth to my Nolan Helmet for hooking separately to my phone. The Nolan Bluetooth headset can be purchased with a HD adapter to hard wire to HD system....yet still have the separate phone connection
Seems like cyclegadget.com has really thought all this through
