Yes, what happens if on the way out of bed any morning, you trip and whack your head on your dresser?
Makes about as much sense?

I would think the Ultras and the newer wet heads would have quite a few repairs if the MoCo screwed up on the design.

Guards hit first but they look like crap all scratched up. Some LEO's put heater hose on the guards to prevent damage for competition and training. Just makes sense to me

I've seen it happen both ways, couple years ago I dropped my 06 in the garage where it came to rest on the guard. My dad dropped his many years ago and got scratches on the bottoms of the lower. Watched a guy unload on off a trailer where he dropped it once out of the trailer, he scratched the bottom of the lower. IMO I'd remove the lowers, remove the bags, pad the engine guard and the bag guards. If you're riding the course for the 1st time, you're more than likely going to drop it a few times before you get better.

when i took ride like a pro, i was worried and bought some wraps from Captain Itch, a sponsor to the forum. right now, i see him listed on the bottom right right after K&N. here's a link to the wraps http://shop.captain-itch.com/Crash-B...vers-plain.htm
i think they were the 8 inch. i put them on the back. i don't think i put any on the front. check them out.....i just left them on cause i thought they were a pretty nice product. then again, everything i've gotten from captain itch has been a pretty nice product. btw, worry was all for nothing.....stayed up the whole time....dropped a foot once or twice....but nobody riding a harley got messed up.

Thanks guys. Its not that I'm new to riding. Have been riding approx 40 yrs. Been away from riding for last 10?? and just got back into it last summer. Want to brush up on a few areas that I'm finding needing attention now that I'm older and not as invincible as I used to be. Don't know if its the size of my Street Glide or my age giving me fits. Always had Hondas; 360, 500, and 750's, with the last bike a lighter '94 Dyna Wide Glide I sold 10 yrs ago. High speed curves and twisties are my concerns. Never heard of countersteering and, go where you look phrases until a few months ago. Hoping the course will give me some confidence in those 2 areas.

I signed up for an ABATE riding course for next month, and have another advance course MSF sponsored by a local HD dealership in May which I plan on taking too. Got the Ride Like a Pro DVD.

trust me, you may never have heard of countersteering, but you've been doing it all this time. you can't ride without doing it, you've just been doing it instinctively.

have fun with your course and good luck.

only on a gentle one John like you let it down to the ground yourself, try having it slam to the ground when you lose control on a tight turn doing parking lot maneuvers, the Lowers take a hit just like mine have more than once.
