Default 96 ultra classis

My son is thinking of picking up a 96 harley is all the post says. To me it looks like a ultra classic. Full dresser for sure. I warned him of the weight of it sonce hes not a heavy bike experienced rider. Seller says title is from Tenn, were in michigan, I told my son to get a michigan title first from him. Make sense or not? Second the bike has a primed outer fairing, not sure why just yet. 78K on the bike. Guy said he would take 4500. Good deal or walk away? Need help and suggestions from the masses please and thank you for your time.

Way too much info missing for an honest opinion. Year, model, owner history, condition, etc....needs to be factored. Sounds like it needs a little work on the fairing at least. Son have mechanical skills? Then the whole heavy bike thing. If pressed I would say pass.

Its a 96 ultra classic. its in the subject line but ive missed stuff before so not a big issue there. Second, owner had the bike for 9 years, son can wrench and I can help with no issues there. https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/mcy/5456949019.html this is the ad that my son sent me. I hope it works.

Sounds like you need to do some serious home on the bike. Why is faring primed ect.
96 EVO was a good engine. Still have one myself but you need to do some home work on the EVO to know what you are getting into and at what price. That is higher miles unless there is proof of good engine rebuild. $4500 would be ok if the bike was in good shape and sound but I fear it is not from what little you posted.
As for weight unless he is 4 foot 2 or in a wheel chair that has nothing to do with anything.

Looks like an OK deal. That fairing has a bra on it. Looks like an Electra glide classic. No lights or CB. Has a lot of extras on it.

Ive posted what I know of it, Son called me and sent me the link. Other then that and what i wrote is all I know. Sorry for lack of more details but its all i got so far. Guess I need to go hear it run with him. Hes 6 foot or so and 180 lbs of muscle who wrenches daily and used to roof for a living. So strength isn't a issue.

That's not primer ya dummy! As mentioned, it's a "bra". What would have indicated that it needs work (primer) now indicates that it has been well taken care of (bra). But that's a 30,000 foot fly over opinion.

And part of the confusion is the number 96. I'm thinking 96 c.i.., when in fact it's a 1996. Evo bike, well maintained, sounds like a good one for $4500 (even though the ad says $5500).

That frame is 2 generations old now. The newest is '09 to present, then there's '97 to '08 and then the '96 and earlier. Parts such as seats are harder to find and the frame sits the rider higher up than the '97 to '08 frame. Top heaviness is more pronounced in that early frame, so it'll feel heavier.

78,000 miles wouldn't stop me (hell, I've got twicw that much on my Twin Cam,) but I'd be looking to rebuild an Evo as it approached 100,000 miles.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the asking price IMO.

Ok i understand the confusion on the year or engine size my bad and I was at first looking at the pic from my phone 5S and the pics are small. Once somebody pointed out the bra i checked it out on my computer. Yep its a bra. So without me hearing it personally Id say yes to it also. I think 78K isn't bad and we can always rebuilt it if necessary. Thank you all for the help and continued support.
