Default Installed heim type joints....problem

So I found a thread on here with the parts to do the above switch and located some joints in the UK.

Put it all together and took her out today and really struggled to get into 1St gear, had to keep shifting up and back and really forceful to go into 1St?? Popped the original linkage back on, balance returned to the force?!

Any ideas?? I am baffled...

Did you match the center to center lengths from the old set-up to the new?

Make sure heim joints are free to move around after installation and also measure the length should be about same as the stock shifting rod. If joints are binding against both transmission rod and the primary rod then you need to use some washers to have free play on both ends and both side. You should be able to wiggle it with your fingers freely.

Probably need to shim out transmission end with washers to stop bind.

Buy some better Heim joints. They are not created equal.

Sounds like you may have too much distance between the mounting holes maybe?

Batman, put a small o-ring on the back side of the joint. That's what I did and it keeps the linkage from moving and no more rattle.

all heim joints are not created equal, buy some good ones and get them space out correctly and all will be good.

That's my new rattle, I was checking my bell today can't even here it. I hear going slow down the road. Just installed cheap eBay one someone mentioned on here. I like it, alot better firm shift. Something is not right with OP setup as it should be better. I have one thick washer behind the trans heim link. Tried to make sure shifters where in same height as before.
