On my last bike,I went with the chopped pack and then wished I had the King to store the helmets.

Might be better off with the king TP for comfort and it will store 2 full face helmets easy if you have those. Not so much on the chopped. Also, you can get speaker pods and hook up to your stereo as well.

If you do HD, get the key matched barrel lock and screws for mounting. They are optional.

I have the chopped on mine and am happy with it. My CFO and I only do weekend trips at the longest and she is happy with the chopped TP. Anything longer and she flies to our destination and I ride out.

If you wanna save some cash you can find some pretty nice king tour packs on Craigslist. I bought a tour pack from a wrecked ultra for 50$, did a little body work on it to fill some deep scratches, body shop painted it for 75$ with John Deere blitz black with is a exact match. Detachable bracket was most expensive part 200$. Backrest pad for 125$ on eBay. Only bad part is lock is different than rest of bike and I had to drill custom holes in base of pack to match the new mounting bracket. I would put pics up but don't know how. Just another idea though.

Can you/is it possible to do a chopped pack with a king, mustang or Corbin style king backrest?

King Tour Pak - I went thru the same thing but decided if I was going to have a tour pak at all might as well get one that would carry more. Holds full face helmet when we stop and the wife likes the comfort.

For looks, the chopped is the obvious choice, but it sounds like you are buying this for function, and I assume you will be making it QD, so the King gets my vote. It's hard to believe how much you can fit in it, and the backrest pad should keep her happy.

I chose the King for my RK. Comfort for my wife and our two full face helmets get stored inside when we stop and get off the bike.

Just a comment on the King TP holding full face helmets; If you are buying it for travel use only to carry your stuff, how are you still putting 2 helmets inside?
