Just installed a 21" DNA wheel (came with ABS bearings installed). I'm 100% sure I installed the ABS bearing to the correct side (left side - thicker bearing). When I took the bike for a test drive the light goes off, however under medium braking I get a random pulse like the ABS is working. I'm also using the same rotors. Any ideas? Do I need to reset my ECU? Maybe a bad ABS bearing?
Update: Pulled the abs fuse and the issue goes away. So I'm thinking it's got to be 1 of 3 things.
1. Abs bearing is bad or installed backwards.
2. Sensor is damaged or in the wrong position. Maybe dirty?
3. The 21" wheel speed is effecting the abs.
What's weird is the light goes off when it starts to move. And it doesn't blink when I can feel it activating. Any thoughts?
The random pulsing is confusing me ... This seems to indicate the abs is activating in some way , but not correctly ... The abs light going out when bike is moving, is telling us the abs electronic system is not sensing a problem... This may not be the problem, but, (you mentioned you installed bearings), did you install abs bearing with the white coloured side, (senser), facing out, and the orange colour inward ???
The pic attached of the abs bearing, is what colour you should be seeing outward , (ie , next to abs senser)..
It doesn't feel like a brake rotor. I can feel the ABS actively working when medium to hard pressure is applied, but just randomly. Light goes off when the bike first starts roll. Then when I feel the ABS pulsing the light does not blink. The bearings also came pre-installed from DNA. I confirmed the thicker ABS bearing side is facing the sensor (looks like the one pictured). Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Could it be the rake change in the bike by installing the 21" wheel? I have read several people that had issues with ABS when they went to a larger wheel. There is a black box that you can purchase to correct the issue or some people have put in a lowering kit on the front forks to bring it back to where it was. I am by no means a expert just trying to help out with something I have read before. Good luck and I hope you figure it out.
