I've installed quite a few sets. I always take off the leading corner of the gasket with some light sand paper before I start the gasket in the port. That allows the gasket to get a start before ot tightens up as you push it in with your thumbs. Hope that makes sense.

After I asked the question, I went back out to the garage and had them both in within a matter of minutes. I think the biggest thing was just to walk away from it for a few minutes and get my blood pressure back down, lol. I've put in other styles with no trouble at all, but this was my first time using OEM ones. A little oil helped for sure, other then that it was just a matter of pushing with my thumbs all the way around. Some of the other tips could work great if you have the room, but with the lower fairing in the way, things were pretty tight.

Glad it worked out for you. You're absolutely right about just needing to walk away from the project sometimes.

Did the same thing on Friday installing my new dresser duals on my "new to me 02 FLHRSE". Wish I had thought of the PVC pipe trick tho!!!

Default Double copper rings

Had a similar issue on a buddies bike. One copper Ring and still leaked a little so an older motor head said place 2 of those rings in each port. Amazing that worked and he has not had any issues since.
plus they go in really easy if u freeze them for a few hours.

I just did my 2016 RG. Cleaned the surface of the port, fitted it in by hand. Piece of cake.
