At 80, my bike (14 RK) is turning just a fuss over 3000rpm. Seems to like it there.

Hey finally an update sorry for the delay.

First off thanks for the ideas to check. Unfortunately it all seamed ok. Since the bike was warmed up decided to do the ol screw driver to the ear trick trying to find where it was coming from.

Decided it was actually coming from the left side not the right and at the bottom of the engine. I was so sure it was on the right side but decided to go with that idea.

A few searches showed up alot of people having issues with their compensator as 2010 still used a poor version. While reading I kept seeing other issues a bad compensator creates which I have been dealing with too. Back fire through throttle body when cranking, poor cranking and even destroying the starter.

Today I pulled the primary cover off, the drain plug had a fair amount of "hair" stuck to it.

Decided on doing the grinder method to get the rotor out, didn't have to remove much material so worked out great.

If looking at the pics there is some wear which I believe is excessive and then it was causing the parts to bind and stick from time to time along with rattle.

Hope to get a SE upgraded one and install it next week at some point. Seems most people get this one from Harley and it works out good.

Will keep people posted if that does solve my issues!

You may want to rethink going with the SE comp. you haven't done enough research. The SE failure rate is just about as bad as the stock comp. I'd look into the Baker comp myself.

When doing a search alot of people have gone with SE. Didnt see too many others.

Does Baker offer the complete kit for my bike or would you happen to know the needed part numbers?

Since the last revision there have not seen a ton of SE Comp issues reported. Seems to be holding up fine I suppose.

Baker did have issues with a few early Comps. Springs apparently, but they have revised theirs as well and things seem well. Still early though. Kinda waiting on feedback from users with 25-50K on them.

Just remember, you'll need a new rotor.

That SE comp you linked to comes with one.

What did cam and ramps on the sprocket look like?

Ok so the rotor number 30041-08A.

The bike isn't here so I will get a picture of those parts in a day or so.

My 2 cents is you are barking up the wrong tree.

That didn't sound like a compensator problem to me.

I hope I'm wrong.
