That didn't sound like a compensator problem to me.

I hope I'm wrong.
It is possible a couple of issues are taking place, of course need to get this problem put back togeather in order to start it and listen. I was hoping to pull the comp then just fire it up but of course that isn't very possible.

Well yesterday I finally had gathered up all the parts. Thanks to this forum I went with the kit from Baker. Very easy to assemble and good instructions.

Started it up and wow doesnt sound like its ready to blow up!
Unfortunately the temps were at freezing so I didnt try a road test but sure seems to be running nice now!

Well as people thought there is multiple issues. The clunk was fixed but then I got a tick which turned loud within a ride.

Kind of seems like exhaust leak but putting your hand by the pipe has no air blowing on me. Listened to the rockouts vid and this is louder but may be associated with it.

So this weekend I hope to investigate further. Start at the top end and work my way down. The timing of the noise though seems to be valve train as it turns half the speed of the engine....

Keep yas posted.

When checking for an exhaust leak, I have my wife hold a couple damp rags over the muffler outlets to plug them, if there is a leak it will really help in finding them.
