Speedo Swap
Morning all,
On a 2002 Road King, is the mileage stored in the speedo? I.e, if I switch the speedo will the mileage then be wrong?
Reason I ask is that my speedo glass is quite worn and the backing plate has yellowed somewhat - I'd like to give it a refresh!

I replaced mine on my 2002 FLHT and the mileage was changed to what the new speedo had. I bought a used one.
If you buy a new one from the dealer they will put your exact miles on it.

I replaced the speedometer on my 2005 when I changed from miles to KMS.
I replaced it with a used speedometer and it read the amount that was on the replacement unit. I didn't have to do anything else, just install the new one and go.

Have you thought about sending the speedo off to be repaired?
I sent mine to GuageMods to replace the backing plate. Did a wonderful job

Have you considered Dakota Digital gauges, with theirs you can program in the existing mileage if you do so within the first 100 miles, and they're cool. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd683.htm
