So currently I have an '02 FLHR which has V&H Long Shots fitted. I don't really like the twin pipe on one side look and really want to move to a pipe on each side of the bike. Problem is this means I have to replace the headers as well which ends up being crazy money!!
The cheapest option I can think is Big Shot Duals or the Radius?
Just wondering what people think, or can suggest options - bearing in mind in the UK Harley stuff costs us in pounds what it does in dollars!
Can you guys get somebody in the US to buy it for you and ship it or does it get a duty placed on it when it enters the country? Here it is a $1000 endevor for complete new systems unless you go with modified stockers or used. If you had a newer bike I would send you my set of 09 cat-less headers for the cost of shipping. You may want to post something in the "wanted to buy: section and see what comes of it. A lot of us have a ton of take off parts laying around. I have 3 complete stock systems an 09, 10 and a 16.

Another UK Harley owner here, with lots of experience of buying from the USA. Shipping costs vary greatly and can be very high, expecially for bulky items like an exhaust system, also we have to pay 20% taxes plus other costs. Having said that there are utterly irresistable items well worth buying, not least because secondhand things can be so cheap in the USA.
On Ebay now some dealers are advertising with shipping and UK import taxes included. I don't know how they do it, but I can confirm it works! There is a complete '07 system, pipes with mufflers, which will fit an '02, for $250, plus $115 shipping and $80 UK taxes, item #111950725711. You chaps outside of the UK won't be able to see all those details.
roundy, get a clearer idea of what you would like and we can probably find something to suit, either in the UK or USA.
Hey GR, I saw 111950725711 on eBay - but are you sure it will fit an earlier bike? It has o2 sensor ports on the headers....?
I am almost 100% sure I want to go with some kind of "chunkier" slip on affair with the standard headers - i think that will be the cheapest route, perhaps if I can first source the headers from the US where supply may be more plentiful I can then take my time to look at the slip ons.
just put plugs into the o2 sensor ports...binus you can use an o2 sensor to aid in tuning the bike.
there is a large range of headers which will fit the motor and frame- even some evo headers will fit.
2008 is kind of the cut off point as the 2009+ frame required the later headers change too.
used pipes should be cheap cheap cheap- and I'd enquire as to what duty or value they would put on used parts entering the UK...it's got to be negligible.
most riders have a pile of pipes in the garden shed, ask around locally...ask guys at motorcycle events.
we have a few UK riders on these forums- perhaps post up like " UK sources for used/parts?"
fyi GR is very very bright- and like many Englishman likes to potter around and massage bikes and parts to do new things.
I have a Supertrapp for an '08 on my 1990 bike below, so yes they will fit. The indy who dyno tuned my bike (I have an S&S engine) recommended using an O2 system, as he used the ports while tuning. They have bungs in since.
That system on Ebay isn't a suitable one, simply because it includes mufflers, which you don't want. That's a bit like buying a wheel with tyre, which adds unnecessarily to shipping costs, taxes etc, to be thrown away for a decent new one! So we need to find a set of pipes with heat shields. Many mufflers are available here in the UK through our various Harley dealers and specialists.
There is a suitable set of pipes at #281988975970 from an '06, unfortunately without heat shields, but otherwise a sensible price. Some '07s have O2 sensors and all '08s, but not earlier model years. If your bike is running and rideable, it may be a case of sitting tight and watching Ebay like a hawk! I've done exactly that myself, for certain parts.

Mike, unfortunately we have a very small 'fleet' of Harleys over here, compared with you chaps, whose bones we can pick over. Almost everything I've done to my old Glide in recent years is down to HDF (should carry a health warning!) and US Ebay! Never-the-less a good idea, as the UK population of HDF is increasing. We also have the Classifieds which are worth browsing.
