124" rod length differences
I posted this in the engine section. Maybe there will be more responses here.Quick question to the motor guys here. What is the differences between building a 124"er using the S&S hot set up kit with the longer rods, vs building one based off a 120R with the shorter rods? Going to back to my small block Chevy days, the longer rod definitely affects the piston compression height, among other things. It looks likes the wrist pin is in the oil ring groove on the S&S site. Not to mention the S&S cylinders are taller than stock by 0.96. I know it affects the intake manifold length, but does this affect exhaust fitment? Thanks.
I guess I should have also clarified, when I said S&S Crankshaft, what I meant was the High Quality Crankshaft.
It is my understanding that Harley uses the same Crankshaft in the 103's, 110's, and maybe even those 120's.... if it is not the exact same crankshaft, it's one of similar quality (or lack there of).
S&S crate motors are more expensive than HD 120 crate motors...., but me personally, putting that much power to ground, I like the reputation of the S&S crankshaft....
But that's just my $0.02 :-)
