Couple other things to keep in mind are if the battery is getting tired & or isnt that old but is developing a bad cell the volt reg will sense it needs more charging then normal which some rare cases can lead to " higher then normal " charge voltage readings.
Also,sometimes a bad dirty corroded ground/connection at battery & or also on either of the 2 grnds (1 to frame & 1 under starter attached to trans case) can cause higher then normal charge volt readings too.

Set your multimeter to Vac, you should not have more than 0.1-0.2 Vac using the tender plug. The maxi fuse dampens the ac signal by sending the poorly rectified voltage to the battery. Be sure to tighten all connections before taking a decision.
