I have a guy who's gonna tune my bike. (W/SERT). So, where's the best place to locate an 02 sensor on my SG? (He works on VRODs)
He feels the best way to tune the bike is placing a sensor properly (drill pipe, insert a bung w/ sensor, collect data, and then correct SERT; rather than sticking a sensor in the pipes, and using full thottle data, etc. )
So I will purchase a set of primaries, place a sensor in it, collect data on a run, and correct SERT....
Ok,.... I had a SERT on my 06 Dyna, and it came from the factory with o2 sensors. I dont think that they started on the rest of the H-D lineup until 07. So,... I can't imagine how that guy is gonna get an 06 Street Glide to recgonize an o2 sensor. It was just not set up for one, BUT you could benefit from a SERT but he's wrong abvout the o2 sensors. You might want to keep that guy AWAY from your bike.
no, no....this guy does all my work, and I trust him more than any dealer tech. He's that good!!!!
we have all the tools (hardware/software) to read a o2 sensor. We just thought some guys here may know the "best" place to locate/install a sensor on a touring bike.
Sure, we can stick it up the pipes and it will work, but we want the optimal place to locate it.
I had a Zippers Thundermax put in on my 2006 Roadglide. They recommened the O2 Sensors be 4" to 6" from the heads. I would expect the same thing to be true here....
This is the first I have heard of a SERT requiring O2 sensors....What's up with that? Why install O2 sensors and then remove them once the ECM is programmed via SERT...Why not go with somethinglike the Thundermax with Autotune or DTT with WEGO and keep the O2 sensors "in the loop" all the time for continuous tuning....instead of a 1 time tuning with O2 sensorsand then relying on the fixed program SERT???? Then when you change something do the entire dog and pony show over with the O2 sensors and dyno this upgrade, then dyno that upgrade, etc???
Well,.... I'm sure if your "guy" is that good then he should know just where to stick his o2 sensors. Good luck getting the SERT to recgonize those o2 sensors on an 06 Street Glide. Let us all know how it comes out. Im very courious.
Yeah... seems 'strange' ..... to drill/weld/install/remove for the SERT. I'm with joeshmoe. I'd get the thundermax. That way you get WIDE-BAND O2 sensors instead of installing narrowband ones.
Seems you would have to do some 'strange' stuff as the '06 doesn't deal with 02 at all. Whatcha gonna plug 'em into in the bike? Don't think the '06s have a wiring harness to plug 'em into. .... strange I tell ya .... .simply strange.
