Scared the crap out of me as this has never happened to me before. (Many miles logged with passenger but new wife and she has only ridden with me a handful of times). I ordered a tour pack set up from my local dealer (I know you can get them cheaper online).
Now for my question, for those of you who have passengers who fall asleep are you running passenger armrests? Or the curve of the tour pack enough? What brand of arm rests, HD or kuryakyn?
========================

Glad to hear it ended up ok.

I run Mustangs armrest/backrest that has longer armrests then HD's armrest does that attaches to the stock tourpack on my 09 FLHTCU.

My wife also falls asleep at times and the longer armrests do a little better job of keeping here on the seat where she belongs.

To be safe maybe we could both bungee cord our wives to the tourpack so they don't fall off if they fall asleep!/LOL!!

Just kidding!

I thought about using two belts to tie us together. She falls asleep when the temp goes below 45F. I like the bungee to the tour pack idea better though!

My wife sleeps on the back as well, but I have a tourpak with wrap-around backrest, a Corbin. I find it unusual that Mrs C slumped sideways and didn't wake, as our ears normally wake us up if we move like that, certainly Mrs B does. A tourpak will certainly make her more secure back there, but also more comfy, so probably more likely to doze off! Do you have an intercom, so you can talk to each other?

Wow, I couldn't imagine letting that happen. I would tell her to let you know if she's feeling sleepy and stop for coffee or a short nap at a rest area.

Wife has rolled the dice and slept all the time. Had a close call some years back on the Harley Triglide I had. Tooling along down the freeway with the cruise set at 75 when I felt her helmet hit the back of mine, didn't think much of it. Then I felt her slide to the left, had to reach back and catch her before she fell off, this was with the tour-pak. She stayed awake after that little scare.

The arm rests won't hold her in. They are designed to swing away so you can get on and off the bike easily.

Glad all ended well for you! As far as I know my wife doesn't sleep while on the back, with that said, if that were to occur to me we would have to have a deep conversation concerning our safety while riding. I don't believe I would encourage her to sleep, nor purchase something to hold her on the bike. If she's bored or that tired maybe taking up another hobby is in order for her. I find it difficult enough when my wife is re-positioning for photos while riding.
