Default Clank accelerating and decelerating

It is normal! That's why they have an auto adjuster for the primary. Your adjuster needs to move up a notch. Rock your bike forward and back 5 6 times. It should take up the slack.
If it ain't tight, it ain't right!
The adjuster should eventually take care of the slop, lash or clank, but if you aren't happy you can adjust it easily.

What you're describing has happened on every Harley I've ever owned. I'd have the dealer document your complaint just in case. Just curious, did the dealer sell you the Road Glide as a "used demo bike?" 366 demo miles seems a bit excessive if it was sold as a new bike.

I would agree with the above post...It's still under warranty so take it to them and tell them your concerns.

And they'll happily tell you......"It's normal". Just because it's under warranty it doesn't mean they automatically start tearing into the bike. A technician will take it for a test drive and if he determines there's an issue, then they might do something. Otherwise it's the old standby.

He Guys,
I have the same problem with my 2016 SG which I bought new. I started to notice this clanking issue around 5k miles. Now at 9k miles I stopped by the Service Dept at Frazier HD in Buford last week to talk to them about it. I'm about an hour ride from the dealership so dropping the bike off for a scheduled service can sometimes be challenging with my work schedule and all. So, since the problem on my bike can be duplicated pretty easily at slow speeds I asked if a tech, or someone else from the Service Dept could ride my bike around the parking lot to experience what I was talking about and give me some feedback as to whether this is a real problem or not. Anyway, the Service Writer said that I needed to drop the bike off with a service appointment before they could do anything! "Liability" I was told. I was also told that if they could not find a problem at that time I would have to pay a diagnostic fee since shop time was not free and HD would not pay for it. After saying a few words....I left disgusted. What BS is this? Spend $23k and then when warranty concerns come up the customer needs to fit the bill if HD decides an issue is "normal". I'm really pissed.

This is why HD needs a gear drive someday in the primary like Victory and the Japs.

They just need to come up with a reliable compensator design. We Evo and TC88 owners have one, which in turn is similar to the shovel design, so it can be done! The teeth on our comps wear out before the rest of the design gives up the ghost.

I have the same issue with my 2013 Ultra Limited and been very concerned about the "clanking". However, I will attempt to use this described method to correct the problem and satisfy my own mind. Like many others, I have let it get into my head. I have not tried rocking my bike but you can bet that will be done as soon as I complete my fluid change. Thank you for the posts. Other than the noise, my bike is in great shape. Simply keeping it there is my goal. Always enjoy reading about our Harleys and possible issues. This forum is a great resource and I enjoy reading about our bikes. Yes, I am an ole rider (73) but always meet the greatest people on Harleys.
