Default Suspension pump

I've been borrowing my riding buddies air pump to adjust pressure in the suspension of my 06 RG. I guess it's time I get my own. Just curious as to the pump of choice to the forum members. Harley, JP Cycles, or ??????

Thanks in advance for your input.

I got mine off of eBay. It was $29.95+$6.00 shipping ($35.95 total). eBay sellers name was "vettdoc" - not sure if he has more. Plenty of others selling same item at comparable price.

Packaging on item said "Midwest Motorcycle Supply". Pretty straighforward - works great. All my buddy's are hitting me up to use mine & plan on buying their own (SURE, not as long as they can use mine!) soon. Mine is always in one of my bags. Oh - and you CAN use it on other things - like tires, etc - I tried this last weekend - but, you'll be pumping a LOT for the higher PSI items.

TIP: when using any pump - pull handle OUT prior to hooking up to valve. This will help prevent sucking out any oil from the shocks (or so I've been told)

-60 PSI Gauge
Die cast base with 2-3 psi bleed-off button for precise adjustment.
360 degree swivel on air hose.
Only 9 inches long

If that was the case then you would suck oil/air out everytime you pulled the handle out while pumping. I agree with you on the tires though, it takes way too long to add to tires.

BTW, has anyone noticed a discrepancy in the gauge reading? I put the HD gauge on the tire and it read 32. I put a typical air pressure guage like one you use on your car on the biketire(I tried it with 2 different car gages, one digital and one mechanical) and they read 36. ??? I'm wondering ifthe HD shock guageloses accuracy with the higher pressures.

I hear ya - but my understanding is that its for any oil that may be lingering around in the lines; remember - you don't hook up directly to the shock itself - but to a valve connected to a line which runs to the shock...if there's any oil in the line, on your first push, it should get shot back into the shock...

I know that oil flows pretty easily...learned that when I took off my shocks last time...made a bit o' mess!

I use a little 'sports pump' that I have for pumping up my daughter's soccer *****. they are so cheap (like $5) and pumps up about 1lb pressure per pump. tiny little bit of leak when disconnecting (about 1lb worth of pressure). about as much leakage or less as hooking up a pressure gauge to it afterwards to test the pressure.

I believe the HD pump has a check valve so that when you pull back on the handle all you do is get new air you don't pull air from the shocks. The HD pump is really great there have been many threads in here about them. I have one and go no where with out it.
