170 mile adventure bike ride, on the Road King. Several folk were quite astonished at where I rode it . namely, everywhere they went on their dual sport bikes.
Hmmm. So I can buy a $3000 KLR650 and beat the crap out of it or I can just beat the crap out of me Harley.
I took my KLR places I'd never take any street bike, and take my 450X places I'd never even attempt on my KLR. Good for you keeping up, but I'd never get that much mud on my RG. It's not the right tool for the job IMO.
It's good to see I'm not the only one who does this.......lol
Yep! Surprisingly good bike at it. Gobs of gentle low end torque and a low center of gravity make it a lot more capable than one would expect. Explains a lot of interesting film footage of old Harley's on the trails and beaches.
I do need to cob up a skid plate. Banged a mystery rock pretty hard on one water crossing. Another road was like driving on dragons teeth in some sections. Picking and holding a line on that was a good workout. The incredulous looks I got when I came up to the top though!
Wait until you tip that beast over on a hill, then tell us what a great off roader your RK is.There is truth in the old saying " Use the right tool for the job".
