at a .77˘ dollar

Gasoline alley- kanes is gone?

a shop can't take on the liability of a too short cable hanging up the bars for instance.

alot of the riders here make calculated "risks" which a shop cannot.

over time we have had riders do their own work and use too long cables which hung up and caused a crash...and too short cables which restricted the front end.

there are many posts on which specific bars will work with stock wiring and cables to minimize expenses

...and you are dealing with someone who is on commission.

do you own work, calculate the risks...and save money

Dave,

I can't help you with your the handlebar issue.

Just a word of advice. I would somehow, someway get your personal information (name, address and telephone number) off the picture attachment or delete it completely.

There are unsavory people who peruse these forums looking for that kind of info. Short of giving GPS coordinates to your house advertising where a beautiful, blue Ultra Classic is, it's the next best thing.

Maybe Canada is different, but you can't be too careful nowadays.

Badlands Harley in Medicine Hat, AB quoted me about $2100 all in, less tax of course, for 13 inches installed. I, like you had severe sticker shock. When I do it it'll be with Aftermarket parts purchased on line. I'll do the work myself. No reflection on the dealers themselves, look like that's the going price.

I'd recommend bars from a company like Wild One and a service manual if you want to dive in yourself. Otherwise a reputable Indy shop would be your best bet. Bars aren't some kind of voodoo, just take your time. There are plenty of online resources that will help you through it.

Thats about the norm for a Dealer install.

As has been said, get a Service Manual and do it yourself....

I wanted some Mini Apes too.... but I really cant justify the expense for such a common-looking bar.... IMO they are way overpriced, just due to being HD, but thats how it goes... we can get much better looking bars for $200 less than that... I guess depends on how much you like that style.. other than that, Id still suggest doing the work yourself. Youre totally capable, its doable by even inexperienced wrenches.

Taking your time on it is good advice.

I don't really understand the bagger bars or mini-apes or whatever they call them. Raising your bars an inch or 2 does very little. If you have a Street Glide you have effectively blocked your fairing mirrors, one of the slick things about a Street Glide.

Go tall or don't go at all.

I'm not sure why anyone should be shocked! A dealer will quote to do work to a set standard, while many owners are happy to make do and cut corners. There is usually a gulf between those extremes!

I thought this thread would be about the ridiculous prices for aftermarket bars. $200 for a bent pipe? Harley only charges $100 and that's list price.
