Default Changing Handlebars = Fitment

Hey,

I have a 2005 Road King Custom with beach bars, I'm looking to switch up to something else without changing cables. Has anyone done this and what did you end up going with?

Thanks in advance.

I just put my Beach bars back on my 05 Custom, When I got mine it had a set of Heritage bars and they used the stock cables and brake lines and they were very comfortable.

Do you still have the old bars? Any idea what year the bars were?

Here is a photo of my Custom, how I bought it, with the heritage bars on it, to give you an idea of how they look.
They say these are the same bars they put on police bikes also, due to the comfortable position.

I went with Wild Ones 10" mini apes on my 05 RK Custom.
All the cables are stock, only had to add 6" to the handlebar wiring.
Hint, put some extra length in your wires while you're at it, for future expansion.
The brake line, the throttle cables, and the clutch are pretty tight, but work just fine.
Cut the ties on the brake line under the nacelle, and bend the brake line to fit.
Also cut the stock tie where the clutch cable is tied to the frame.
Any higher, you will need to change all of the cables..
Total cost was $199 for the bars, and $5 worth of wire.

A couple of pics

I have these bars off a 2015 FLHR.. this site has been invaluable to me for figuring out what I need for cables:

the other thing I use is the PDF from the bars on Harley's site. Should be able to piece together what is on the bike from both these pieces.

I put Heritage bars on my 03 King. Straight up swap, no need for new cables or brake line. I did have to tweak my brake line a little but it was minimal and easy to do. The Heritage bars are all day comfortable and a HUGE improvement over the stock King bars

Default bars

I picked up a set of Heritage bars from another member, should be here in a few days. I'll post.

Thanks for all the input.
