I would get the bike with the lowest miles. I wouldn't want any of those "extras" on my bike. My 08 is an AWESOME bike that I wouldn't trade for any other FLHX of any year, and yes I have ridden a 2014 many times.

They both sound like great bikes but the price seems high. I might shop around and maybe travel over a state or two

Don't be afraid to shop outside your geographical area either. The 08's brought about 6 gallon gas tanks, ABS and Brembo brakes, but the 09 and laters brought about an entirely new frame and the Rushmore line in 14 brought about many other changes. Don't get me wrong, I love my 08 and am content on keeping it, but if I were just starting out and $15k to spend I'd probably look for a newer model in that price range.

One of the guys at work just picked up a 2010 street glide with 3200 miles for $13,500.

Unless he is willing to sell that bike to the OP for $13,500 I don't see how this helps him any.

Thanks. So you think the 2014 is worth the extra $4-5K? I don't mind spending the money if the changes are worth it.

Just showing him that there are deals out there to be had, you have to find them. The guy I work with found the bike on cycle trader. Unless one of the bikes is everything the OP is looking for, you can't fall in love with the first one you come across.

buy an '09 or later. or better yet, if you can swing it, buy a rushmore. My first harley, after many metrics, dont think I would have been happy with anything less than a rushmore. good luck with your decision.
