Lightbulb Blue Police Lights

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction for a Truck-Lite Lamp on my FLHTP?

I live in the UK and took delivery of an FLHTP - Police Electraglide Ultra two weeks ago.... I'm LOVIN' her!!

Now the dealership provide ALL of the Police lights with these bikes, I think it may have been a cancelled Police Order and they were all shipped over to the UK for sale at a good price.

Anyway, on the rear of my FLHTP there are two blue lights each side of where a USA License Plate would typically fit, right below the Tourpak.

Now I'm NOT sure how the British Police will view a CHiPs style HD with blue lights visible.

Now I know that the simplest solution would be to just remove them, but to be honest, they do make the bike look that little more authentic. So I would like to keep them, but I would like to have a set of Red or Amber bulbs on Standby in my panniers "just in case"....

Now these are not your "typical" lamps which are available in England, so I could use some advice from you Stateside folks to advise me on purchasing an alternative Amber or Red set.

Is Amber or Red available? These are Truck-Lite Lamps, but I've searched their webpage and I can't find any reference to this type of lamp, I assume that that model if 15038 - 12V as stamped on the rear of the unit (please see photographs), but I'm not certain.

Do any of you folks know if I am barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks very much in advance,

Steve

I doubt it is a standard lamp.

Methinks it is most probably a strobe lamp - hence, you'll have some tweaking to do in order to fit a standard 12V 21/4 red lamp in there...

. Those are just simple led replacement lamps for trailers. The come in all different colors. They may be sold under sealed lights. Most truck stops around here have them by the hundreds in the rack.
TRY THE TRACTOR FACTORY IN THE UK. Pretty sure they will have the color u need

Thanks Bumpandrun... Tractor Factory don't stock the unit... BUT when you said that most Truck Stops have them I remembered that there is a Truck Stop about 8 miles from where I live, so I'll swing by there on the way home tomorrow.

Best wishes,

Steve

Technically illegal in the UK to show any blue light or reflector on a vehicle not approved for emergency services use.

The local PD WILL frown! Guaranteed to take a very close interest.

Steve old chap, take a close look at your blue lamps and see if you can find any useful ID on them (they will be commercial USA lamps), find a suitable part number on a US website, then see if you can read across to a UK source. You will find that Trucklite make a lot of lamps and are available over here, or at least some of their range is.

As an aside, when I bought my first new Harley, way back in 1974, another customer bought a full CHIPS spec Glide, with all the bells and whistles, including a rear tyre driven siren! He even imported a CHIPS style helmet, but did however swap his blue lamps for red ones. For your rear lamps, red seems the most suitable colour.
