i have a 01 electra glide with air ride shocks can i hook a compresser up to the stock shocks so i can lower and lift the bike to my liking with just a switch or will something mess up
Yes you can. I have mine done up that way. I use to have Arnott air ride. Running stock 13" Dresser shocks now. But the bike will only go up and down 1/2-3/4" at most Id say. That's about all mine feels like it does when I deplete the air out from having the wife on the back of the bike. Also, don't go over stock shock air limit. Newer shocks are 60 psi. (09' and newer I think)
do not use a compressor to air up your shocks, you will blow the seals.
also, the stock air shocks are not height adjustable. airing them up or letting air out does not change the height. load97 says his changed by 1/2'' - 3/4''? I would say that is being generous, I never noticed any difference in ride height when I would air my shocks up, even if I went from 0 to 50 psi.
When I had the 12" Harley lowering shocks on my '06 Road King, I'd notice no height difference with zero lbs or 50 lbs. But on the original 13" shocks, I'm seeing a difference like Load97 mentioned. I had always been told that the air made no height difference. Maybe on some, but not all.
